About Maggie McKee Huey

maggie3.jpgMaggie McKee Huey was born (1992) just three years before her family migrated from evangelical Christianity to the Messianic movement. She is the one person from her non-Jewish family that has naturally grown up pursuing the ancient paths that they have all adopted. By the time Maggie was four years old, she was learning many Davidic dancing steps at the Messianic Jewish congregation her family originally joined. This early childhood introduction to the ways of the Lord gives her a unique Messianic understanding about her personal walk with Yeshua the Messiah. To Maggie, celebrating festivals such as Passover, Shavuot, Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and Chanukah, while remembering the weekly Shabbat and eating kosher, are to her simply the normal and proper things to do throughout the year. Needless to say, she did not have to be taught the essentials of a Messianic lifestyle in later life like her brother John and sister Jane.

During her early formative educational years (2000-2006), as her family was being drawn into a full time ministry, Maggie attended a small private Christian school. Due to this experience, and subsequent family discussions and conversations that arose about traditions such as Christmas and Easter, Maggie was able to not only observe what traditional Christianity does at these times, but also to learn to be loving and sensitive to our Christian brethren. By the time Maggie was ready for a high school with a more challenging academic curriculum, her parents were confident that she could handle the environment of a secular public school. As expected, she has excelled as a straight A academic student, while obtaining varsity letters in both cross country and track, a natural extension of her ice skating prowess. Her parents’ prayers have been answered for her proper education, as it is obvious from different conversations that her high school principal, some teachers, and athletic coaches are all outspoken Believers in Yeshua. Maggie is the only Messianic Believer who attends the Osceola High School (Florida) chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and has testified to her peers of her unique Messianic faith.

At Shavuot 2006, Maggie was fourteen and ready to become a daughter of the commandments. It was at that time that she participated in a bat mitzvah, being a confirmed member of the ekklēsia responsible for the ethics and morality of the Torah. This was followed at Passover 2007 with Maggie undergoing a life-changing salvation experience—and since that time her interest in things of the Lord and the Scriptures have grown exponentially. Today, she is a vibrant member of Congregation Beit Yisrael in Orlando, and a long time integral member of the Davidic dance team. She has become very adept at choreographing some of the dances, and has enjoyed participating in different performances with the dance team at various feasts of the Lord. She is already displaying a discerning spirit and a heart for evangelizing her contemporaries, as they have all witnessed the remarkable change in her walk and faith commitment.

Maggie’s future goals include pursuing an academic career that specializes in teaching in the historical field. Having been around many Messianic leaders since a very young age, Maggie sees great opportunities in the future as Outreach Israel Ministries and TNN Online expand.

As we embark on the McHuey Blog, we are all convinced that Maggie will continue to delight and surprise us with her insight and perspective on a multitude of topics.
